These are progress sketches for a house project in Friendswood, TX.
This house will be adjacent to an existing house that fronts a small lake and large garden area.
The client wanted a simple house in transitional/ modern style.
Amenities include a front entry water garden flanked by exposed concrete planters and walls as seen below. The roof above is cantilevered off the main structure and will have a wood ceiling. The water garden will also serve as a easy for dogs to have access to water.
The house will have a large elevated screen porch that faces the lake view as well as a large covered porch and cantilevered trellis below. Large existing oak trees surround the structure. We worked to keep these as an amenity to the house... easy to see... and they will help shade the house from the west sun.
The exterior will be clad in pre-finished corrugated metal, metal roof, and stained wood siding. The home will be elevated on a concrete plinth with steps bringing you down to natural grade. The abundance of windows will fill the home with natural light... and help connect it to the surrounding grounds.
We anticipate this project being submitted for permit in a few weeks... breaking ground shortly after.
